CHAT 5th Anniversary ── Factory of Tomorrow

CHAT六廠五週年 ── 明日工廠
To celebrate its 5th anniversary, CHAT (Centre for Heritage, Arts and Textile) is proud to present “Factory of Tomorrow” in the spring of 2024. This group exhibition showcases a selection of CHAT’s contemporary art collections and newly commissioned works, critically examining the past to ignite imaginations about the future. The exhibition brings together works from 19 artists and collectives with Asian backgrounds, employing a range of mediums including textiles, sculpture, immersive installations, and video. These works reflect a diversity of perspectives on textile techniques and materials, diversity, climate change, and the societal future. Running from now until July 14, 2024, at The Mills, CHAT invites audiences, artists, and designers to draw lessons from history through cultural heritage and collaboratively envision a brighter future.

Special Display: CHAT at The Mills ── Frog Carnival 2024 

CHAT六廠特別展出 ── 青蛙嘉年華2024 
Led by the renowned artist Kwok Mang Ho (Frog King Kwok), the “Frog Carnival 2024” is set in the Textile Workshop, inviting audiences to immerse themselves in a colorful, imaginative world of art through a large-scale ink installation. Frog King Kwok is famous for his unique “Frogtopia” art concept and philosophy of life, advocating “Art is Frog,” “Art is Life, Life is Art,” and “Yum Dimension” (meaning “any dimensional”) to emphasize the limitless possibilities of art.

CHAT Shop at The Mills

The CHAT Shop is a store located within The Mills, dedicated to promoting the Culture of Making. The Mills In Time Of Pop-up

The “In Time Of Pop-up,” open for three months from April to June 2024, gathers a wide array of textile units from Taiwan, Japan, and Hong Kong. This offers a diverse selection of textile products, allowing you to explore the weaving styles from different regions and cultures. The store collaborates with various textile artists, including Taiwan’s 8 Bit Textile Design@8bit_textiledesign,Mumble@mumble.room, Japan’s Mikako Kondo @mikako_kondoand COQ@coq_sapporo, as well as Hong Kong’s Nam Yang Kee@namyangkee.hk. Not only can you purchase your favorite textiles, but you can also gain deeper insights into the weaving stories of different artists and regions, experiencing the warmth of handmade crafts.
