#MILL6CHAT #CHATwithYou #CHATfromHome #SightUnseen #CHATCollectionCHAT (Centre for Heritage, Arts and Textile) Summer Programme 2020 Sight Unseen – Forking Paths in the CHAT Collection is here! Registration of our diverse online programme – #CHATwithYou has officially begun. Don’t miss this chance to participate in our engaging co-learning workshops and virtual guided tours of our seasonal exhibitions!
Make sure to check out our first #CHATwithYou programme – the Online Patchwork workshop, coming up on Thursday 27 August, followed by the Old Tee But Good Tee: Crocheting Workshop on Saturday 29 August, to upcycle your old tees! You can also gain a fresh new perspective on Hong Kong making by joining our monthly sharing sessions and trying your hand to weaving a tapestry – all from the comfort of your own home!
Apart from these online workshops and sharing sessions, you are invited to engage in active dialogue with the side-by-side presentations of artworks and factory artefacts from the CHAT Collection! Complementing and interweaving through the exhibition space are selected texts that form linkages in abstract or concrete ways. The juxtaposition of these unlikely exhibits aids you to derive new meaning and associations for these once familiar works and objects.
Keen to learn more about the seasonal exhibition? Join our highly anticipated online curator tours on Monday 31 August to experience our exhibition remotely. Meanwhile, you can revisit our past and current exhibitions via the link below!
What’s more, feast your eyes on the fresh addition to our Welcome to the Spinning Factory! exhibition in The D. H. Chen Foundation Gallery, as we have revamped the Welcome to the Hong Kong Market! display to feature shelves of iconic and significant items from Hong Kong’s vibrant textile industry from school uniforms to minibus banners to knotted fishing nets. More video content on these new exhibits are coming soon!
CHAT’s exhibition space has been fully ready to welcome our guests for a new season of exciting programmes as soon as the situation allows! In the meantime, we are very much active online! Take part in our diverse #CHATwithYou online programmes and take care. Stay connected with CHAT for our latest announcement on programmes and re-opening!
